Dreams that keep me awake through the day - 2

Two day weekends had become inadequate. And then I run into a one day weekend. I cannot recall the day when weekends moved on from being a break to follow your passion to a basic recharge which was not enough to get you through the week. The day when my day job had killed my dreams.

It did not happen in a day, it was a slow painful death. There was a time when writing a few pages used to get me recharged and add a spring to my step that lasted the day. Days when I used to write were far and few in between, similar to the posts that I have made in this blog.

I needed the safety net. I needed to pacify my misplaced ego. In simpler words, I was addicted to my monthly payslip, and the annual hike. It was no different from the bonded labour, humanity had broken free from. The only happy moment I now feel was when I sat slouched in front of the television and saw a good movie start immediately after the previous one got over.

I want to wake up again to the dream of writing. My last years new year resolution was to “Start writing to a plan”. Though the resolution met with limited success, find below two key points from a writer to another.

1. NaNoWriMo: National Novel Writing Month is an annual, Internet-based creative writing project that takes place during the month of November.

2. Alphasmart Neo (for first drafts) and a Microsoft ergonomic keyboard 4000 (redrafts require a laptop) have been two critical tools

On an insurance lifeline in the US

A story of how my self respect was shred bit by bit. How my confidence was rendered into fear... And how I might one day come out stronger. On a whim she wanted to explore the opportunities the land of opportunity had to offer. (She could be my daughter, my sister, my wife, my mother) The first rude shock. My awakening to the American way of life. I have been speaking to her uptil yesterday and she was the happiest thing in the world. Today I hear she had a fall in her room and is in the hospital. Before I even have time to think of a Visa and a ticket, I hear the Resident at the hospital, whom I was able to reach with great difficulty ask, "What quality of life do you expect her to have? Do you want her to continue on life support?" Except for an emergency room everyone else needs an application that their admissions dept and insurance studies and researches with countless interviews of the family in addition to all the paperwork required from previous hospitals. Nintendo Switch V1/V2/OLED versus the Nintendo Switch 2, ROG Xbox Ally or Steam Deck: The Console Upgrade Myth (Part 2)

New hardware dominates the conversation, but older consoles aren’t done yet. From gaming PCs to Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and Steam Deck, last-generation favorites like the original Nintendo Switch continue to offer compelling reasons to play even alongside the Nintendo Switch 2, Steam Deck, and ROG Xbox Ally. However, I’m seeing a pronounced appetite for used, lightly used, and like-new gaming devices. The trend mirrors the early pandemic period, when perceived supply constraints fueled a similar rush toward secondary markets.  This might be due to the Nintendo Switch 2 being priced at $450-500, price increases on older Switch models, or even fears that tariffs could further increase prices. Or is there something more? Table 1 sets the tone for a closely examined, detail-oriented discussion about the various Nintendo Switch versions. Table 1. Kochi - Asia’s Largest Natural Christmas Tree & Asia’s largest art Biennale coincides to herald a secular, sustainable paradise for artists!

Asia’s largest Christmas tree Kochi has a 25-year-old tradition of decorating Asia’s largest Christmas tree. This natural Christmas Tree is located in Veli Ground, in a locality called Fort Kochi in the older part of Kochi City in Kerala, India. The lighting of this Christmas tree draws huge crowds, with up to 50,000 visitors each evening during the Christmas period. This is a natural Christmas tree, an existing rain tree, estimated to be around 200 years old. The rain tree is decorated with lights and ornaments every year for Christmas celebrations. Every year, the Christmas tree is lit up in a different color, and it is yellow this year. The Christian population in Kochi (and the state of Kerala) traces its roots to St. Thomas the Apostle and can be considered among the oldest Christian communities in the world. The people here have a strong secular civic identity, often attributed to high literacy and long social reform movements, and you’ll find temples, churches, and m...
